11. My Local Coffee Shop

Fī fatra ba'daz zuhr 'uhibb 'an 'aqdil waqt ma'a 'asdaqā'i.
In the afternoons I love to spend time with my friends.
Nahnu nataqābil fīl maqhā.
We meet in the coffee shop.
Hunā 'astatī'a 'an 'abqā tuwālal masā'.
Here I can stay all evening.
Nahnu nashrabul qahwa, nal'abul duwmīnuw, wa natakallam.
We drink coffee, play domino, and talk.
Wa lākin 'indamā yakūn butrus hunāk, 'anā 'ughādir.
But when Butros is there, I leave.
'Indamā yatakallam lā yastatī'a 'ayyi shakhs 'an yatakallam.
When he talks, nobody else can talk.
'Anā 'azunn innahu yuhibb sama' sawtahu.
I think he loves to listen to his own voice.
'Al-'asdiqā'ul 'akharūn hum 'asdiqā' qudāmā.
The other friends are old friends.
Hum mithla 'al-'ā'ila.
They are like a family.
